Queen Yani

last thurs. i went to the kahuku elementary may day to see this girl:

Queen Yani! may day in kahuku is a BIG deal. really big! there is a queen with her court and dresses made and flowers done and hula's learned and practice for each grade for months!

Ariana was voted queen by her classmates. she looked beautiful. i got so teary eyed, i was thinking i am going to be a mess at ki's wedding! yani is done with elementary school now in 6th grade and will go onto middle school next year so it kind of feels like a graduation too.
nikki got to place a lei on her queen and the king. they told a little about yani and how her dad is watching over her. that got me too!

yani had to do a solo hula all alone for hundreds of people. i would have been so scared, she did great! she loves attention and is always the star of the yani show!
