Our Mainland christmas

We are home and happy to be. it was a good trip but it was long and the weather was cold. it is always warmer in st. george but as a lot of places were, it was colder than usual and a little snowy at times.many places were closed like the road to the Grand Canyon, the road to Kolob Canyon which we really wanted to show the kids but the road was iced over and they aren't really used to that kind of weather so it was shut down. luckily we got to go to Zions canyon which was really pretty with all the snow. We saw a lot of movies, Yes man, it was ok, 7 pounds, kind of weird and marley and me which was cute but so sad at the end. we played games and watched movies and had a lot of fun with a show on christmas eve from each family and games. we left the last of the trip up for whatever came our way, this ended up being very bittersweet! matt's sister and her family were going to a cabin at Brian's head ski resort past cedar city and invited us to come up and meet them there after seeing Mark's family. we thought it would be so fun for caleb to learn to snowboard and we hadn't been able to get out and do too much so this would be the last hoorah. we got up to the cabin at night, there were feet of snow maybe 4 if you stepped in it you would sink all the way down to your waist. the cabin was so beautiful and cozy with a wood burning stove in the living room with like 20 foot ceilings with a loft. we bundled up that night to go out walking and to see the stars, there were more stars than i think i have ever seen in my life, i literally think it could have been all of them :) it was breathtaking!! we came back for hot chocolate and went to bed to be ready for matt and caleb to snowboard, ski, tube whatever they wanted to do and i would be shooting pictures and hanging in the lodge. well after going to sleep i woke up to not so pleasant feelings and spent the rest of the night  doing you know what out out each end it was so horrible, as it got closer to the morning caleb started, then matt. we spent the next day horribly sick as the rest of them went to the slopes feeling terrible that we were there throwing up in every possible recepticle. i don't even have any pictures because we had to leave sick so we could drive back to vegas and catch our flight the next morning a 3 hour drive from brian's head. it ended up we had to take caleb to the ER on the way back to vegas, he was just bad off and we couldn't get on our flight the next day like that so they gave him IV fluids and meds and we drove the next 2 1/2 hours to vegas and crashed, we all got a good nights sleep and flew home the next morning! we were so sad to miss all the fun on the slopes and at the cabin, it was a beautiful day and we missed it and we were so appreciative to have been there. we told caleb we kind of owe him! as we found out that next day most of the family including ki who was in salt lake city was also sick-too much togetherness :) i hope that you had a very merry christmas and a happy new year, don't get me started on that tradition in HI.
