anyway i finally got to go to the podiatrist today. he said matt was right the nail had to come off and that the first few days are "hell" his words not mine although i might have said that yesterday. he said this is going to take up to 2 weeks before it is really well again. he put me on antibiotics for 2 weeks. i have to keep it wrapped all the time since it could be susceptable to bacteria floating around and keep it up when i can and he will check again in 2 weeks. i get a fun routine 2x daily of washing with surgical soap, rinsing with saline solution (no tap water!), drying with gauze and putting a glob of neosporin on with gauze on top, tape it around and cover it however i can. he did it once and it was not fun, it is very sensitive but it will get better. he can't guarantee what the new nail will be like b/c he doesn't know if it has fungus or not he had to do a culture to find out, that was not fun either, rubbing a giant cotton stick on my baby new skin! if the nail grows back looking like a curled ram horn or jurassic park dinosaur toe (his words again) then we will have to do some more work. i have to say i like my toes, they are long and narrow but they aren't bad looking and i like to have them painted , i don't want an ugly jurrasic park toe- PLEASE!
He thinks it actuallly could have been from a shoe rubbing on the side of my toe or nail. i hate to say he could be right, i have a few church shoes that i take off in the parking lot after church. they are not crazy shoes they just rub me on the side of my toe. he says i should not wear them anymore... we'll see?!
we are going to the temple tommorow on big island and spending the day there and flying back, hopefully we can just lay in the sun for a few hours and relax. i can't get in the water but that's ok. OH and just FYI, my kids will be home and when they are not our house will be locked up tight ! Hope you have a great weekend!!
