I have really missed posting on my blog! it is pretty hard to catch up but i just wanted to express a few feelings.
first the presidential election. well it wasn't the way i wanted it to turn out (actually i wasn't sure about either one) but hopefully our country can unite together in support to try and help some of the issues our country is facing. I did think that it was quite funny that Obama's catch phrase the whole campaign was vote for change and in the limited time i have had to listen to all of the news about it i have heard him say-now that he is elected- we are not going to be able to change to country in one day or one year or maybe even one term-Then what was he going to change if he doesn't do it while he is in office. i know his premise is that everything is such a mess that he can't take care of it all when he is there but he said he was going to change america! There has been a lot of backlash on Sarah Palin, i really liked her but honestly i don't think she was ready to be vice president. I don't think she will be put on the back burner now i think she has a bright future but maybe baby steps.
i am an Oprah fan but it was a little hard to watch this past week, boy was she happy! a little overkill Oprah. She did say to her loyal fans that she feels for their loss of their canidate but she was unleashing all she had held in throughout the campaign. Honestly i do think it is a great step for equality for every person, for an african-american child to have a dream that he can be president or anything he wants.
Then Prop 8. i was so proud it passed. the Mormons haven't gotten the best wrap from it but i have read wonderful things about many religions coming together to stand up for family and traditional marriage. the thing is the church isn't bashing anyone, they are not trying to change anyone but the propostion was to define marriage as a man and a woman and that gay marriage wouldn't be taught in the schools. obviously many people in california wanted this to be the standard. Mormons may have a lot of influence but they can't make all people vote a certain way, the citizens of california voiced their beliefs and i think it is terrible that there has been such a hateful, violent backlash about it and against the mormons, i saw a sign that said "mormon $ buys hate". i feel very sad that people feel that way. I know they had celebrities and money behind them but prayers and fasting speak for themselves.
well that is my venting about the past events, on to more fun things.

I am kind of disappointed in how infatuated people are with obama. i think it is always a good idea to have a healthy skepticism for our leaders, or they can do whatever they want. I also can't believe that his very first speech after being elected was that he can't do what he promised in his campaign trail! Hello! But I do have high hopes that he will lead the country in the right direction...anyway...
