french fries and fire

on sat. when we came home something smelled like it had been cooking and there was a fan by the stove, i asked matt about it and he didn't know anything.
later caleb started telling us the story about how he was hungry and on molokai bro. mcarthur made garlic fries with them, if you can do it in a house on the ocean he could do it here. he found 1 potato, sliced it up. got my SMALL saucepan and filled it with canola oil. when he heated up the oil and put the potatoes in it boiled over, then caught on FIRE, so he then threw WATER on it!!
you have to do the potatoes twice so he poured in more oil then the canola oil was all gone so he used my olive oil, it happened again, more FIRE, more WATER, and a 3rd time!! i guess he didn't get that you need a much bigger pan and that you don't use WATER to put out a grease FIRE! he said it worked and that his fries turned out good! after the story i went to lift the stove top, there must have been 2 inches of water and oil, that was fun to clean up but the stove is clean now!
he is such a funny kid. if i asked to show him how to make fries (which i would have baked them!!) he wouldn't want to, everything has to be on his own terms when he wants to. i am thankful for bro. mcarthur. he loves to cook and teaches the boys a lot but he might want to go over how to put out a FIRE!

And it sounds like they really could use a fire safety lesson in Young Men's or something....
