On being the grinch!

My friend kelly posted on her blog that her son let her know about a christmas concert he had last minute and that she was feeling grinchy about it. i thought that's me. grinchy.
i know most people love christmas! it's their favorite holiday etc. etc. but for me i wish it was different. i wish it was more like thanksgiving. one day of family, food and fun. instead it is getting a photo shoot in at the last min. for beautiful christmas cards, then waiting in line at costco with the other grinches to pick them up, spending more money than you want because you want gifts under the tree sometimes it doesn't even feel like they need to be good ones just so everyone can open something. and this week has been so crazy busy i can't seem to breathe.
i know all of this could have been avoided if i had just planned ahead when i had time but it doesn't seem to work out that way. it has just been a busy week and things keep happening that seem to make it all worse. i typed a long christmas card letter and when deleting one sentence the whole thing dissapeared and i do not have time to write that all again. there are preschool field trips, roadshow practice, runs to the airport, sometimes twice in one day and sitting in an hour of traffic on the way back, online retail problems and getting burned while having my eyebrows waxed. i am exhausted. but there i have said it and now i am done being the grinch~ or after this week:)
kiley is coming home this weekend and i want it to be a nice christmasy feeling. one where the spirit of Christ feels welcome in our home, where music is playing and cookies are being made and eaten and everyone can relax.
so in the spirit of a fun christmas here are a few questions for my loyal friends:
angel or star?
white lights or colored?
favorite christmas movie?
oh and i forgot fake or real?
i am star, white lights on tree colored outside, miracle on 34th street (the newer version) and fake most years.
when i have a min. i have pictures to post!

It's crunch time! I know the road show is taking a toll on some during this already busy time of the year. Hope things turn around soon.

Answers:
-Angel. Although I just have a big puffy ribbon on the tree this year.

-Both. White lights on the tree, colored outside.

-A toss up between Elf (very funny!) and The Nativity (spiritual). Depends on my mood. It is a tradition (for the past couple of years) that we watch The Nativity on Christmas Eve. It really welcomes the true spirit of Christmas.

Oh! since this was our first real Christmas together here were my favorites:

silver or white glittery star
WHITE LIGHTS are sooo in right now :)
(but colored lights on the house)
Movie: A Charlie Brown Christmas
(nothing makes me feel the spirit of Christmas unless I watch this movie).

Secondly: I'm definitely grinchy too! so don't feel guilty!

I think all of us get into the grinchy mode during Christmas time. I've been feeling grinchy for the past three years since we've been here, but this year I'm actually not feeling that way. At the same time, I haven't ever sent out a Christmas card or stood in line at Costco to pick them up, but I probably will next year:-) Good to hear you're done or almost done though! And welcome home this weekend Kiley!

My preferences:
Angel.
White Lights.
A Charlie Brown Christmas (I think my parents raised us on that movie)

I hear ya! I absolutely love all the Christmasy stuff, but I always wish it was a little less stressful and that the "stuff" didn't take up so much time and money.

Anywho: Star (Jeff's mom rips the wings off the angels. Kinda ruined it for me).

White lights all the way, baby.

2 Favorites: A Muppet Christmas Carol and Christmas Vacation

i know, december is always so stressful! I love all holidays but thanksgiving is nice in that it is one day of eating and usually the next day is a goof off day. so we have a star on our tree this year, I prefer white lights...I can't decide on my favorite christmas movie...but i do like miracle on 34th street.

oh and I prefer a fake tree but real has won in our household every year since we've been married...one of these days I'm going to buy a fake!

Star, usually white, but we're trying colored this year, I think Elf, and fake.

I hope you can enjoy your Christmas season now! It's coming up so soon!! I am sure wishing I could spend more time doing Christmas things and less school things..
-ANGEL
-I love white lights, but it's tradition in my family to have colored lights on the tree and white ones outside
-I love Elf and A Christmas Story
-I LOVE the smell of real Christmas trees..
I'm very much about doing things the family traditional way at Christmas! I'm having to make new traditions and it's difficult! Have a very Merry Christmas!!

Here here....DITTO!! I'm sadly actually looking forward to New Year's. Anyway soon enough it will all be over with. Happy holidays and try to just erase everything when Kiley comes. Enjoy her there. Anyway....

-I've never had my OWN tree so star, because that's all we've had.

-I love white on a green christmas tree.

-Elf and Deck the halls

-Fake. quicker, less messy, easy on the allergies and cost effective.

LOVE U!

star, colored lights, too many to choose from, and real...for SURE!!!

i love the smell of a real christmas tree in the house :0) but this year, the first year ever, we have a fake one. it was kahana's moms tree. we're borrowing it because....oh, it s a long story. but i am just grateful that we have a tree! thats funny how you've been "grinchy". ive been too! and so has a lot of other people i know! there's something in the air this year, not quite sure what it is. but i hope when christmas day comes, we'll all have smiles on our faces, and feeling the true christmas spirit :0)
