Last night(1-5-10) our beloved "pops" died. Rey Mozo suffered from congestive heart failure for many years. he had his first heart attack over 15 years ago. he had been in and out of the hospital for as long as i had known him in the last 8 years. jon used to call tripler ICU his time share. he had many good years and some really bad months this past year being the most difficult but he always pulled through. Rey knew his time on this earth was limited and always made sure that arrangements were set, his wife would be taken care of and always told his 4 then 3 boys to take care of their mom which i know they will.
i love Rey. we have spent all of our holidays here in hawaii at their home or with them. he was a jovial, loving, giving man. he LOVED his grandchildren, his sons and daughter in laws along with sons girlfriends, exgirlfriends, their children and and on and on. He loved to cook. he served as a chef in the white house to several presidents. he is a veteran of the U.S. Navy. mostly he had a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and knew he would see his son Jon again and his family when it was time. last night the little ones said maybe now he is snowboarding or surfing with jon or fishing without oxygen or pain. i hope he is!
we love you pops, thank you for all the love you have shown our family. the meals you have cooked but secret recipes you kept secret! we will be there for your family. in loving memory.

Sweet post Kelly. You guys have gotten so close to that family. I know they must be really special. I'm sorry.
I'll drop Nikki a card. He and Jon are having a wonderful reunion.
I'm sure Jon and his dad are doing all the things they want to do together. What a happy reunion. At the same time, I know he will be missed. Sounds like he lived a wonderful life! A chef huh? Nice to have a man cook for you.
I was so sad when I found out about him passing, but he was a great man and an awesome cook! Whenever we went over to Aunty Nikki's, it was always so great to see him. Glad he can be with Jon again. He definitely was surrounded by many who loved him and what more can you ask for when you leave this earth?
He really was a good man. I'm sad for their family, but can't help but feel some relief for him.
Thanks for the comment Kelly, I see what you mean about that! I'll definitely do it though:-)
I am sorry for your loss, but isn't it amazing the peace that the gospel brings in death. Knowing where and why we are here let's us leave in peace.
