so for a tsunami update: there wasn't one! this is how the day went. we woke up at 3 a.m. with the phone call from my dad. we called
ki to go get
maggie and
scotty and whoever else and come home. by 4 she was on her way, the gas stations were already 60 people deep in
laie' so she drove all the way home on E and a prayer! in the mean time i was getting ready to leave for my trip, since we were going away for a week we had no food in the house so i ran to
wal*mart at 4a.m. since all these people were coming to my house.
wal*mart was a mad house they were already out of water! i grabbed packages of hot dogs and buns, goldfish, cookies and
rootbeer, milk and bread and went back home. then
ki got there with about 6 people, then about 5 more came. then i had to get ready to leave. my flight was sat. morning
matt's flight was sat. night. i decided to leave since i knew everyone in
mililani would be safe but my instructions to
matt were if it was chaos there i didn't want him leaving the kids. i left for my flight and had to travel the entire day so i only got a brief update from the pilot that everything was
ok. i got to L.A. and called to check and
matt told me what had been going on all day! there were at least 15 people at our house including one of
ki's friends parents that were visiting! they all crashed for a while on the floor and futons but then
matt made everyone breakfast, scrambled eggs and bacon. then it was just watching the news to see what was coming, then watching the little tiny 1-6ft. wave come in and out and hanging out some more. playing
blongo ball and then lunch time.
kiley and
caleb bbq'd hot dogs and hamburgers and they had lunch.
matt said he was constantly cleaning up from eating! in a way i am glad i was not there! a lot of the roads were still closed so they could not go home, they tried a movie but the movies were closed too so they just hung out.
matt said they had fun. he felt a little awkward with the parents and our house is so small we have never even had that many people there before but if they would have stayed in
laie' everyone had to hike to higher ground. at least they were fed and watched the news. all in all it wasn't really anything but it's always better to be safe than sorry. on the news all day they said plan for the worst, hope for the best, that's all you can do!! so
matt said from now on if we want to get rid of all of the food in our house we just have a
tsunami party. we are cleaned out!!
i had a horrible flight with turbulence, tight seats, sick stomach and no sleep. but we made it to park city, the weather is beautiful. chilly up here and snow on the mountain but very sunny and in the high 40's. we have the weirdest room ever. full kitchen, tiny living room but only a murphy bed. it's cute but small and different! we can watch the skiiers out the window and have a fireplace so it is pretty cozy. i will blog later in the week. thanks for the prayers!

What an adventure! Good thing nothing happened to our island though. I've lived in those townhouses so I can only imagine.
Park City! Have fun! Caleb must be excited to be there.
Very relieved for the mini-waves and nothing more than that! We were watching the news all evening. Have fun in Park City!!!
aunty! are you going to come visit me?
Crazy day! So glad nothing did happen. Glad they had somewhere to go.
ok, if you can't fit it in, don't stress. I can always see you when I get back. But I would LOVE to see you. :)
I'm so glad it turned out ok. And even though you were having a yucky plane trip at least you weren't cooking for 15. Hope you have a good book - oh wait, I know you do, because you're reading Glass Castle, seriously one of my all time favorites.
