Pre-Ironman

Today there was a lot to do to get ready for the race. everything that you needed on the race had to be dropped off at the swim/bike/run venues. it was really good because we got an idea of how to follow him and what we needed along the way! there will be thousands of people though and i am sure it is going to be a crazy day!

we went to the sand hollow reservoir to drop off the bike. Matt and his sister kelly taking the bike to the "corral".
he has a number spray painted on his arm and a number on his leg, the leg num. is your age so it is really fun to see people all over the place and see how old they are!
these are all the bags that are for the transition from the swim to the bike!
this is the place he will swim. it was so cold and so windy today that we went to old navy and bought clothes or jackets to wear. we have to stay there 2 hours, no cars in or out during the transition time so we will be quite cold!
it is a really beautiful setting though! matt's parents and sister kelly
a little bit of home. these will be in the water for rescue.
matt said we all had to put our feet in the water so we would know how cold it was. kelly was the only brave one of us to do it, i stuck my hand in. it wasn't ice cold but not what you want to swim in. he will have a full wetsuit but your face, hands and feet are still exposed.

he wasn't sure if he wanted to know how cold it was or not but he decided to see. he was talking to ki on the phone who was wishing her dad good luck!
me and my ironman!
there are 2100 bikes ready to go!
matt is nervous and not feeling the greatest. he has been traveling for over a week including D.C., vegas and a 2 hr. drive to st. george. you don't sleep as well or eat as well and your system doesn't feel normal and he really wishes he felt better but i know adrenaline will kick in tomorrow and he will be ready to go. it is a lot of build up and he is just ready for it to be over already, i just want him to enjoy the challenge.
you have all sent such sweet wishes of luck that i know all that positive energy will help.
it's like the night before your wedding or something, a lot of butterflies!!
the weather is supposed to get up to 70 which is not that high, it will be cold at 5 a.m. when he has to be there and at 6 a.m. when we have to be there so you will see us bundled up!
i will post after the race or sun. depends on how late we get home. they have until midnight!

Good luck Matt! I know he will do well, because he just has it in him! I can't believe he is doing it, but I won't expect anything less. Can't wait for you to cross the finish line, I know the feeling will be one of the best!
