kiley's surgery

i seem to post blood on here a lot, it's not on purpose, just real life!
kiley had to have surgery on her foot yesterday. when she was in spain she wore boots everyday. in hawaii we wear slippers, very different but in europe you wear boots so when in rome, er, spain... they had many tours walking up to 7 hours a day and she got a stress fracture between her big toe and second toe. there was not much they could do about it since the bones are very small. the fracture got worse and created a cist which rubbed on the nerve and created a mortons neuroma all of which are extremely painful. she spent about a year going to different dr.'s trying all kinds of different treatments. matt spoke to a dr. at work who said he would fix it one way or another so he first gave her a steroid injection which worked for a while. when the second one didn't work he said it was time for surgery. we tried to get it done before the wedding but he said that was bad juju to possibly ruin someone's wedding which was probably for the best so she had to do it as soon as she got home before school starts. he made a cut between her toes, removed the cist and the neroma and some nerve that was affected.
yesterday was a rough day. she slept mostly but it is just uncomfortable and when she got up it would bleed badly.

she has to just leave this all on until sunday when she can then shower. her and scotty have been staying here until they could get into their apt. and then a few extra days so i could take care of her while scotty is at work. we are hanging out watching movies today, kiley taking pain pills! hoping for a speedy recovery and for the surgery to be successful which she will not know for up to 6months while it heals. she gets to wear an awesome black shoe for a little while that she loves!!

Ouch!!!

I am cringing mostly because I know how it feels to see someone you love not beable to walk without enduring the pain. Jared had surgery on Wed. . . lots of swelling and lots of pain but those pain killers work miracles. He finally gets to take a shower after his apt this afternoon!

Will she be living in TVA?? She's lucky to have you there.

Awww poor thing. Well, at least she got it fixed though...that's the most important thing. Annnnd she didn't have to have it ON the big day. Yeah, that would be a terrible thing to have to remember and look at in pictures:-)

wow! perfect timing then! omg i should take a picture of my foot. i don't know if you guys moved into our ward then, but I think yous didn't yet. But in my freshman year I dropped a huge butcher knife on my foot right between my big toe and little toe, so much that i could see and touch my bones, and i didn't feel any pain because i'd cut off ALL of my nerves AND tendons! so my foot basically hung by the skin (lol i know its definitely gross). but seeing as that's happened 10 years ago, it still to this day feels tender :(

maybe we'll be kiley's neighbor! WE have 3 empty apartments next to ours here in Q building!

Poor Kiley! I hope she's feeling better soon, and I hope the surgery does the trick!
Does this mean she's going to be all looped up on painkillers at the open house? ;-)

ohKi! I'm sorry. But you know what- you have really pretty toes. Everyone is taking good care of you. And at least there was no bad djuju on the wedding day.
Feel better soon.
