we got to vegas and thought it was freezing but it was midnight, yesterday the sun was out and it was about 40 degrees, still cold to us but not too bad. we exhausted ourselves yesterday, walking the strip, shopping and seeing the hotels. i think the kids are a little overwhelmed, ki said everything is so excessive, that's for sure. caleb is taking pictures everywhere with his phone camera and sending them back home so i think that means he likes it. we are about to throw their phones out the window with their constant texting but they manage to still hold a conversation so i guess you let them go?
we have had a lot of fun with the kids, i think you have to vacation with teenagers every so often, to take them away from everything (but the phone) we have talked and laughed and it has been a while. i think caleb likes when ki is around it is more fun for him. He is very funny when you get him in the right mood. i have felt my heart swell to hear them banter and laugh and argue over the covers of the queen size bed they are uncomfortable sharing(we will have bedrooms in the condo in utah).
last night we wanted to get breakfast for the room so ki and i saw the sunflower health food store and had a blast buying healthy and gluten free food, the boys wanted to go to dunkin donuts! me and ki waited in the car and they went in, caleb came out laughing hysterically, he couldn't even tell us what happened, apparently something about matt put the donuts in the bag folded over the top and ripped the bag right in half, he said i guess i don't know my own strength, the lady gave him another bag to put the ripped one in and when he slid it down it ripped in half, the lady is like here and gave them a big plastic bag. i guess it's one of those things where you had to be there but caleb's laughing was very contagious and we were all in stitches. it's hard to understand if you don't have teenagers but these moments are priceless because you never know when you will see one again!
today we will do the NY, NY roller coaster, choose a show or the aquarium and try and find trader joe's, my favorite! the kids have realized many things about hawaii that they love. people can smoke anywhere here, we are grateful for our clean air act in HI. caleb also said he feels like it is so much cleaner at home and we love slippers and not having to take your coat off everytime you go in somewhere or not having to wear it in the first place.
one more day here and off to St. George...
