this past weekend she was walking through walmarts parking lot in hurricane, utah (close to st. george) and although i haven't gotten all of the details, she was hit by a teenager in her truck texting on her phone. she did not see her and slammed into her. she had to be life flighted to salt lake city. she has a bleed in her brain and cannot move her head or her right leg. she was just moved out of ICU which is a good sign. our prayers are with her.
how many times do you just think, it's just a short text or i am in a parking lot! i need to do better, i need to stop.
say a prayer for mary lou.
update, i guess oprah's big announcement was that april 30th is no phone zone day, thought it would be much more.

Omigosh, that is so horrible and I hope Mary Lou's family is being comforted through this tough time, and especially Mary Lou.
I also have been watching Oprah and listening to her pledge on no-texting and I am all for it. So many people here text and drive and can NOT pay attention. I don't know how many stories and accidents they have on our news here about it and people still don't listen. I'm not going to lie, I used to do it and I was pretty good at it but with the phone I have now and my now really short attention span, I am not about to text and think and drive all at once.
Drivers in Utah are the WORST! That's all I have to say.
Whoa! I pray for a speedy recovery.
I am familiar with Oprah's no phone zone in cars. Before this knowledge, I had know idea how bad this problem was! I don't text (it's humbug for me) but did talk on the phone. I use a bluetooth now but maybe that might not be enough.
oh that is sad...it is always so tempting to multi task!
By the way, my baby is here! Let me know when you want to visit :)
I love your sunshiney back ground & the picture of you, Matt & Baxter. What adorable little empty nesters! You know my parents go to an empty nesters family night with your in laws here... too bad you guys aren't closer! :)
On a serious note though, that is awful about Mary Lou. Her family is in my thoughts & prayers. I always try avoid listening to Oprah when she talks about it because I don't want to hear, but Mary Lou's story is motivating. I will start working on it.
Garrett dictates when he drives and it makes me crazy!!!
We just got back from the ranch....I I totally accept the pledge.
I am so sorry to hear about mary lou...how is she?
That's terrible about Mary Lou. I hope she's ok. The other day I was driving behind a guy who was texting. He was going about 5 miles per hour and holding up everyone. It's dangerous and rude.
