ellie kai is here!

She's here and yes this is long!

On sept. 3rd at 8:00 pm kiley's water broke. matt was at work and i was at home and caleb was home for the weekend. kiley texted us keeping us updated at home (all night long) while she began her long labor process.

she went all night long progressing slowly. they gave her petocin at 5 am . her contractions were strong but she just wasn't dilating quickly. after a long trecherous labor Ellie Kai Olson was born at 4:40 pm on Sept. 4th, 2011. she weighed 7 lbs. 14 oz. and was 21 inches long. she is perfect with whispy blond hair and big eyes and chubby cheeks! (kai means ocean)

 it was a lot of waiting and even though half of it i was in bed tossing and turning with my phone in hand the other half was sat. night and all day sunday. so i crafted! i made goodie bags to give out to ki's nurses or friends. i wanted all pink starburst but it would have taken so many bags so they just got thrown in with tootsie pops. ki said her nurses were amazing!! matt is the chairman of the board of the hawaii state board of nursing and used to work at castle so  he is going to write a letter of appreciation to castle's CEO!

 i also made a bib. it was my first one, hopefully i can improve on them! it kept me busy while matt was at work!

scotty texted  at 3:00 on sunday afternoon and said that she was getting ready to push and we should come down. we got there but there was still some waiting.

 caleb decided to pay the 1$ for the massage chair

 and then we watched talladaga nights on the t.v.!
then scotty texted a picture that she was here and they would come get us in a min.

 kiley had about 20 hrs. of labor. she had a fever of 102, threw up, shivered and thought she would die but she did it and made a beautiful baby. this was the 1st time i cried seeing her beautiful open eyes!

                                            skin on skin before weighing, bath or anything.

                                                               hi grandpa!

 we had to go out for a while while they checked ki and ellie. she was weighed and cleaned up but got to have a bath and shampoo!

                                              and will soon be a ponytail :)

then she had to go to the warmer. i wanted to hold her so bad but tried to wait

                                             

 we just checked out her fingers and toes and nails and ears!!!

 those are her fingers they are long and she has super long nail beds like ki

 caleb was the cutest!! my heart was bursting. he is not a baby kind of guy for now but he just watched her and touched her face and hands and she grabbed his fingers. i think he's in love!
so she was still in the warmer and i told the nurse that i just wanted to hold her and then we would go and let ki rest and clean up. scotty and i changed her first diaper and then the nurse put on her shirt, hat and swaddled her and handed her to me. i melted! literally my heart just opened up and i cried, for the second time. i just couldn't help it. she is so perfect and heavenly!

                                   grandpa got his turn, he loves her too!

 and caleb learned how to hold a new baby with his long arms and big hands!

 she definitely looks like scotty and his neices and nephews, she will have some of her mama in there soon i'm sure but she is adorable!

scotty took good care of ki. he is so happy to have ellie here and we are so happy for them! it's still a little surreal, i feel like tommorow ki could be pregnant still!
yes this was a LOT of pictures and there will be more to come. this is my journal and i want to remember all of it. i don't know how i could forget though, i remember holding ki like it was yesterday.
kiley you did a great job, i know it was long and hard but she's here and she's perfect! love you all!!!
