It has not been a good week

so i thought last week was crazy!! this has been a bad week. i will post more on ki's foot later but we spent a lot of time at the dr. trying to figure out what is wrong with her foot. our house was robbed, the date that ki was on when i posted about opal's was her last with that boy, she was sad, don't mention that one to her:). then i have this toe thing. it is gross so i am just warning you go now if you don't want to see it!
in feb. i posted that i had a toe infection, possibly from a pedicure. i have been dealing with it ever since. the toenail died and i thought i could just let it grow off but for the last 2 days it has been throbbing, getting red and swollen and i felt a lot of pressure. matt said it had to come off. i said i would go to the dr. he has a love of home surgeries, i do not! well i went to the dr. he said a week of antibiotics and soaking it 3 times a day. i said no i am not waiting a week so he referred me to a podiatrist, they said they could see me june 1st so matt said i am doing it. he brought home a bunch of stuff from work and went to it.

this is the nail before, it is hard to see but it is all dead and cracked
this is getting ready, i cannot say i was happy!
this is the shot in my toe so that it would be numb when he took off the nail, i am not sure which would have hurt worse but at least it was numb for a few hours afterwards too.
my toe getting bigger from the fluid being put in for the numbing.ki said no one wants to see this, she may be right! almost done.
this is after he took the toenail all the way off. there was a ton of blood and i didn't take any pictures of him taking it off, i couldn't watch!
so now my toe is sore but i do think it is better. i am just supposed to keep it up a little and i am going to get antibiotics from the dr. to be safe. i took off work today. my little friend at school is a big boy and i couldn't take a chance of him stepping on my toe! ouch!
i am sad that i will be missing a big toe nail for months, i love my pedicures and peep toe heels!

You know they can put a fake toenail on. My friend Jessie has that done, hers never grew back. So, she has a fake nail. Just a thought!

That looks like it hurts! Does it feel any better with-out the nail?

We've had one of those in-home surgeries as well. Once when Keane fell of his bike on the road some to the gravel embedded into his skin. I wanted to go to the ER but Husband didn't want to wait there for hours. He drove to the hospital himself and came home with some tools including a syring and lidocaine (nubbing agent). It was painful to see him cutting into Keane's skin. Keane didn't feel anything though. He was a trooper!

kelly - what a rough week! first robbed, then "surgery"!!! hopefully all the trials are over for a little while - you got them out of the way all at once :)

aren't home operations fun?!!! i bet matt loved it! i had to have this done in high school due to an ingrown toenail. they only took off half of it - very strange. hopefully it grows fast. you may want to get a pair of crocs to cover your nail until it does.

That is crazy!! you must really trust matt with what he's doing. i've known a couple of people who got infections from manicures or pedicures. one said she almost had to get her thumb removed. i hope you heal and have a better week. you deserve it.
