sunset on sunday

Maggie spent the weekend with us so we took her back up to school in laie on sunday. i never get to see north shore sunsets but after we dropped her off we were on our way home when the sun started to set. we took some pictures on the way home and then stopped at one of our favorite spots, papailoa (good memories of jon there) to let baxter run around a little.

caleb took this by waiamea
My boys, one seems to be shrinking:)

down on the farm

On sat. evening we got to go to an old friend's house. lew kamalani built a house in waiahole and it is so great.their house is so cool and they have some property with animals, we had a blast!!! (lots of pictures)
there was a sheep
there were geese but when i tried to take a picture they ran the other way
this is baxter's first introduction to a horse, he was a little shy! he loved running around with all the new smells though!
this is hero, the friendliest horse, maggie was trying to take a picture of me and holly and it was so frisky it hit me in the head. this is kiana's baby chison. he is adorable!!
holly loves little brown babies
The Smith's. Holly, garrett, savannah, henry, river and malia
lew and buckwheat, kekoa and hero
matt and nellie hanging out on the porch
this is a horrible picture of me but love my friends!
it was getting dark when we were done with dinner and rode horses but it was still fun, nellie was a little worried but loved it!
helmets are a rule at the kamalani's after kekoa had a lifethreating skateboard accident. this horse was hilarious. i wanted to take off on a ride but apparently the sheep always comes with the horse as you can see on the left side and hero doesn't like to leave without buckwheat so he kept going back despite all my protests, yanks on the reigns and commands, you can't seperate them, what a trio!! then! the whole time i was on the horse baxter sat on the porch with matt and cried. he was so worried about me, i guess he didn't know what the horse would do to me and he is very protective of me. oh my baby!
lew and makana gave us a concert, that is what i love about hawaii, always entertained.

it was really a great day! they have a fire pit and after we all came in i said to matt are we going to roast marshmallow's now? he said this isn't "kelly's perfect day" - it could have been?!!
thanks katie and lew for a day on the farm!!!

New Moon-midnight showing!

Last night i went with my friends to the midnight showing of new moon! i am not a nightowl but i wanted to go with my die hard friends and it was fun. the" hostest with the mostest ", my friend juli had a new moon party before hand. i didn't take a picture of the bookmarks she made with either edward or jacob or the twilight woods lotion she got from bath and body, can you believe it?!

the girls at the party at the mcarthurs house
della, sondra, debbie, pam, marj, sam, val, juli, me, holly and keli
juli had prizes for the games which marj won one of, a twilight journal! first doesn't marj look hot with her new haircut and her new body- hot mama! and unfortunately you cannot see juli's shirt that says "team Jeff" -her husband, love it!
Keli won the other, she looks hot with her new haircut too!
val, me, amalie, pam, keli and marj
our friend pam is visiting from california, she flew here to do new moon with us, what a good friend!! we haven't spent enough time together yet but it is so fun to have her back here!!! she is the life of the party!
this is the back of the theater where we were in line. we went between 9:30 and 10 and had a good time waiting, the time flew by! especially since juli had ghirardelli chocolates to eat!
this guy was in front of the theater, i think he might be the fandango mascot, not sure but he was holding a team jacob sign so i hopped over for a picture with juli. it's not that i really want bella to be with jacob but how can you compare the 2, tall, dark and handsome or skinny, pale and cold- i mean really- team jacob!!
thanks juli for a really fun night out with the girls and oh yeah- Jeff!

My Son

My son- i am not exactly sure where he came from. he is his own person. he has his own ideas about fashion that is not what i would choose but he is artsy and i want him to have his own identity. i also know with caleb everything is a phase. when he was little it was months of bionicles, when he was done he would sell them to friends and move on to lego's or pokemon or whatever it was. he asked for a PSP and shortly after he was done with that he sold that too. i am not sure why he thought it was ok that i bought the stuff and he sold it for the money but i digress...
he loves photography, going out and taking pictures of anything and everything. he is developing his eye and loves his class at school. he has the same teacher as ki and she seems to love the bishop kids and they get special priveliges in her class. he is also really getting into graphic design and can make some really cool things on the computer.
he drives me crazy sometimes when he decides it is cool to have a mustache because it makes your halloween costume look better to have a real one or to wear matt's dress shirts with cut off skinny jeans and a beanie, i am not sure who does that but he makes it his own.
he is such a good kid, he doesn't make straight A's and struggles with math but does well in school, he is respectful and mostly an obedient child (emptying the dishwasher takes 20 times of telling). he loves his dad!! he finished his eagle and is working on his duty to God. he is sensitive and hates people mad at him! i just LOVE him.
he is so funny at times! he is quiet until he wants to talk and then i listen! he could go on and on about a movie, something he learned in graphics or a concert. i love when he comes and sits on the couch by me and puts his long lanky legs over mine. i hate that he is a senior but it will be good for him to go to school which we are hoping is BYUH! i will miss him and hope that i can get anything out of him when he is gone!
caleb and some friends went to the gulch near our house and took pictures of each other, i thought they were cute. caleb is not super photogenic and doesn't smile for pictures so i jumped on getting these onto iphoto.
caleb ryan bishop 17 yrs. old

(he is pretending to play a flute, not smoke it:})

oh and matt gave him a tank of gas to get a hair cut- much better!

i'm better now!

i am over being pouty about eating gluten free for 2 reasons.
1- my friend marj gave me Godiva chocolate cheesecake from cheesecake factory, it was so yummy and rich (minus the crust) and i enjoyed it! thank you marj!!
2- i watched Oprah today. it was the lady who was attacked by her friends chimp about 9 months ago. she has no face. she cannot see, eat, smell and has no hands. my goodness, what do i have to complain about!!
all better now!

world of gluten

Did you know the world is literally made of GLUTEN?? when you go to a store, a bakery, a party, a get together, everything is made of gluten, wheat, flour! Really most times it does not bother me, really. and it does not hurt my feelings when people are eating things i cannot eat or have things i cannot eat but i guess it gets harder this time of year. pumpkin bread, rolls, cakes, thanksgiving, stuffing, green bean casserole, christmas etc. etc.

i think the hardest thing for me is food blogs. i love looking at food blogs but it is so hard to see all the yummy foods people make and not be able to eat them. sometimes i do make things and not eat them because i love to do it but sometimes it is just too hard.

i feel bad because i passed this on to kiley. she was having a hard time the other day because she could not find anything to eat without making a full dinner. college kids get pizza, what do gluten free kids get? salad. sometimes you just want a piece of pizza!

there are a lot of gluten free cooking blogs but it's just more difficult and more expensive to get all the ingredients to make it and make it taste good!

usually i am fine and i can deal with eating gluten free, i think i eat healthier than ever and i hate when people feel bad when i cannot eat something but today, i am sick of being "gluten free"!

french fries and fire

on sat. when we came home something smelled like it had been cooking and there was a fan by the stove, i asked matt about it and he didn't know anything.
later caleb started telling us the story about how he was hungry and on molokai bro. mcarthur made garlic fries with them, if you can do it in a house on the ocean he could do it here. he found 1 potato, sliced it up. got my SMALL saucepan and filled it with canola oil. when he heated up the oil and put the potatoes in it boiled over, then caught on FIRE, so he then threw WATER on it!!
you have to do the potatoes twice so he poured in more oil then the canola oil was all gone so he used my olive oil, it happened again, more FIRE, more WATER, and a 3rd time!! i guess he didn't get that you need a much bigger pan and that you don't use WATER to put out a grease FIRE! he said it worked and that his fries turned out good! after the story i went to lift the stove top, there must have been 2 inches of water and oil, that was fun to clean up but the stove is clean now!
he is such a funny kid. if i asked to show him how to make fries (which i would have baked them!!) he wouldn't want to, everything has to be on his own terms when he wants to. i am thankful for bro. mcarthur. he loves to cook and teaches the boys a lot but he might want to go over how to put out a FIRE!

saturday

this was a full saturday. a man in our ward passed away. Sam Stone. he was a wonderful man, a big sweet teddy bear. we will miss him. this morning ki came home and we went to the viewing and funeral. it was very sad but there is just something about funerals that is so touching, i don't want to say i like them but it just makes you think and refelect i guess. what legacy are you leaving? what will people say about you? mostly they said sam loved everyone, 10 people were listed under his "children" but he only had 3, others asked to be listed because he was like a father to them. what more of a compliment can you ask for in your life. it's hard, i am not a super social person, i am good reading, at home by myself doing stuff, so i hope i have someone show up at my funeral! we will miss you sam! kiley really loved sam and wanted to be there today.
it is rare she has a sat. that nothing is going on so she was able to come, go to the funeral and spend the day with us. we went to chili's for lunch, since she has no where to eat in laie, and caleb actually came along! then he went to target and old navy with me and ki, i have to say my heart smiles when i spend the day with those 2!!
we got ki some groceries and came home and cooked a little so she could take real food back with her to eat instead of having cottage cheese and apples every meal. it's still makes me happy to feed her:)
matt is off to work tonight, caleb went out and ki has a casual date so i am back to being by myself, alone, at home tonight. i am o.k. with that, just come to my funeral, o.k.?

better late than never

COSTUME #2 - bleeker from juno or 70's track runner!
my son wishes he lived in the 70's but since he didn't he will just dress like he did!
he is so skinny, i have to find a real picture of matt in track in high school he looked just like caleb!

On nov. 3rd fall made an appearance on Oahu! yesterday was cooler, the mornings are cool, it is starting to rain, the sun doesn't come up until 6:30 and then sets at 6:30. i wore capris and made chili for dinner! i kept telling everyone it gets better after halloween, so we are in the low 80's rather than 89*!
