Matt wears many hats but one of them is the president of the Hawaii Association of Nurse Anesthetist (HANA), this past weekend he put on a conference for Nurse Anesthetist in Hawaii at the Sheraton. He had an ultrasound company come with new technology for anesthesia. the purpose is when starting central lines you can use the ultasound to see the veins/arteries you need to utilize. (that is my layman's english version). Matt had Kiley and Caleb come down to be models for the demonstrations and hands on experience. Caleb got lucky his was the neck but for about an hour and a half someone or another rubbed an ultrasound wand on his neck but he didn't mind he was getting paid and afterwards he said i learned a lot and now knows how to use an ultrasound! maybe this will inspire a medical career!
Kiley didn't get so lucky she had to wear a swimsuit for the vein or artery in your groin/thigh area, everyone was very proffesional and really nice to her and kept telling her it was much easier on her since she is thin, than some of the plumper ladies they have that are a little harder to find things on. her group got a little experimental and asked if they could do all kind of things like stomach, arm and wrists and legs. by the time she was done she had been slathered with so much goop she had to go to the bathroom with a towel and wash off. she was a trooper and earned her pay!
