Arlington National Cemetary

we went to arlington cemetary in virginia, it was very awe inspiring. thousands of graves from soldiers that have served our country. the cemetary is huge and you can walk around all day. we went to the newer graves from the iraqi veterans, it is really sad to see soldiers our age or much younger that died in this war. i had a ton of pictures and made a slide show it just will not post, so frustrating , so here are a few.

the grounds are so beautiful and peaceful with many trees and all of the white headstones.
The famous eternal flame of JFK. jackie O is next to him and 2 children they lost at birth.
This is the tomb of the unknown soldier. it is guarded 24 hours a day 365 days a year. this was the changing of the guards which happens very solemnly every 30 min.
there are many young soldiers but this grave of a 19 yr. old girl really hit me.
view of the cemetary with the washington monument in the background.

It really was one of my favorite things we saw in washington. it is just amazing. we saw a funeral while we were there with all the pomp and circumstance of a naval funeral.
