we went over to big island on sat. to go to the temple with one of matt's former young men, Kaleo Kim who is going on a mission to ghana, africa! it is so exciting for matt to see these young men grow up and leave on missions. they call when they receive their letters of where they are going and his face just beams with excitement. these are wonderful young men and good examples to my son.the first ones that matt sent off are already returning, it is so exciting to see the change in them when they leave young men and come back, men, returned missionaries!
(our temple is closed for a year and a half for renovation)
matt and i still had a few hours until our flight so we decided to go look around kona. we went to a farmers market/swap meet. since i lost all of my jewelry i am just starting to look a little for interesting things. i bought a turquoise pendant with a silver turtle on it. it is fun to buy things that people have made. i am reading a book called gluten free girl and she talks about how she learned to eat real food after she found out she couldn't eat wheat which is in any packaged food. she talks about going to the farmers' markets in seattle, speaking with the sellers, finding out how they grow their food, where and who grows it. i love the book. so anyway i walk upon this honey stand and he starts telling me all about the farm he has where he has bees, he raises them in different areas of the farm. some feast on coffee flowers, some mac nut tree flowers, etc. he had me taste them all. it reminded me so much of the book and finding out where food comes from, they all had very different tastes, it was so interesting. i bought the mac nut flower honey, it is delicious but not as sweet as the others which i love.
thus the honey picture! it was very hot and voggy over there, i was happy to get back home to our breezes but it was a good day.
my toe is improving, i think because of the antibiotics. it is still a struggle, it gets really tight and stiff and throbs and is still draining but the redness is going away and i am hoping it continues to heal, it looks horrible!
i read something on blog etiquette, it said that posts should be short and sweet so that readers don't get bored, i agree and i try but sometimes i just can't cut it down:)

I haven't read anything of yours in the past week and then I get on and WHAM! You have had a week! I'm so sorry about being robbed. It's just so pointless. And poor Ki's pix. Hope your toe is getting better. Your weekend looks very fun and rewarding for Matt. The temple there is pretty, but how could anything in Hawaii not be? Hang in there!
Nah. Forget short and sweet. I love reading your posts--they sound like you! =)
Oh, and I love Kona! And mac-nut honey!!
Not boring at all---interesting. That's so great for Matt--Hard to believe Kaleb will be old enough for a mission so soon!
