there is a primary (young children) song at church that says i love to see the temple, i am going there someday... children grow up wanting to go to the temple. to be married there and sealed to their families for eternity.
our temple has been closed for nearly 2 years. when it is reopened , an open house is held. before it is dedicated again the public can go through and see what it is like inside the temple.
yesterday it was our turn to work at the open house. it was amazing.
i was put on special needs tours. you had to be happy, healthy, and like people for the job!
i took people through the tour in their wheelchairs. it was tough at times getting through door ways and over thresholds but it was so special to take them through.
everyone thought it was beautiful. non members had questions but most people were so in awe and respectful of the sacredness we feel for that building.
matt was able to be the greeter outside when people came, to tell them where to go. he did not know he would be outside and had on long sleeves and navy dress pants, it was about 83 degrees outside and no wind. he has been sick and was out there in the sun for 4 hours and got sunburned on his head but we didn't mind any of it. the day went by so fast and it was so great to be able to be a part of the open house.
just like when we participated in the st. louis temple open house this is an experience we will always remember.

Oh, the temple looks gorgeous! What a nice picture! Wish I could be there.
Wendell and I felt the same way. We are so glad we were able to be there.
It was nice and special. Felt even more special because we got to go through the special tour for my Grandma who was in a wheelchair.
