ground zero

It seems like we have been here for longer than 3 days, it has been such a fun trip i just wish it wasn't SO cold. today was pretty crazy especially 84 stories up at the empire state building.
we found a great amish store that was like going into whole foods, they had gluten free food and i got to have such a healthy dinner of a greek salad and chicken with asparagus and sun dried tomatoes. you just chose on a food bar so i could pick what i wanted. i love dinners like that! oh and i ate my last cookie, it was YuMmY, wish the bakery wasn't so darn far away so i could get more! here are some pics from our day.

i really wanted to see ground zero. the site is pretty much cleared out and ready to be made into a memorial. there will be 2 pools where each tower stood with all of the names of the lost engraven in the pools. i don't know when this project will be finished since it seems like that has been the plan for a while but i am sure it will be cool. there are a few things  there we saw to remember that day.
this is a picture of the site from a second story in a building nearby, the site on the ground is all protected by blue plastic.
this was posted on the fire station at the site, they lost over 200 firefighter and these were their pictures and names.
this is a series of bronze panels, this one of the towers hit by the planes
                                                we will never forget
this says dedicated to the ones who fell and the ones who and the ones who carry on
everything is under construction there, that is why it is covered in scaffolding, i hope it stays there.

I'm loving your travelogue. Sorry about the weather. Hope it improves the rest of your stay.

isn't it wonderful when the time goes so slow while on vacation? how wonderful! probably goes slow because you have so much packed into a day. i think you need to buy a warm fleece jacket - you can always sell it on craigs list when you get home!
